The number of 311 complaints in New York City related to homeless encampments dropped by over 90% from 2019 to 2020. The reportable issue of homeless encampments has remained an option during the pandemic even though the number of complaints dropped drastically from over 7000 complaints in 2019 to less than 200 in 2020. This coincides with the start of the Covid-19 pandemic when fewer people were leaving their homes to go outside and subway commutes were relatively nonexistent.
